Finally a reason to look forward to winter in Bear Lake!

Yes, at 29 years old, peer pressure is still a very real thing! My wonderful and persistant friend Steph was not going to give up until I agreed to at least give snowboarding a try, so here we are. I signed Colt up for Ski School and I went as a chaparone. Once all the kids were on the hill with their instructors, us chaperones were free to go until time to load the bus. The first couple weeks were pretty tuff. I was using muscles I didn't even know existed! OUCH! The following weeks were a blast!! Colt wanted to switch to skiing after the first week cuz it looked easier. I made him stick with snowboarding and he ended up loving it as well. I was amazed at how fast he picked it up, during free time one week, he challenged me to a race, I agreed, knowing that as any mom would do I would let him win. I didn't have to let him!! He kicked my butt! He was down the hill long before me. He has no fear! I on the other hand am still afraid of the speed. As all of us snowboarding moms say, we should have learned to snowboard earlier than our 30's. Oh well, we all had a ton of fun, and better now than never right? Winter will no longer be such a horrible dred for me. All 3 of my kids and I will be doing it again come January. How fun to be able to enjoy a sport together as a family! Thanks to Steph, Sabrina, Shasta, Lorraine and Angela for all the fun, and a VERY BIG thanks to Steph for not giving up on me.

Happy Birthday Colt

Yes, the date on the pictures is right! I'm just a really poor blogger. Colt had his 8th birthday on Feb. 16th. It ended up costing more than Christmas! Colt and I learned how to snowboard this year so what better gift than all his own gear for snowboarding. He loved it. He decided to have his party at the bowling alley with a cake to match lol! He ended up with alot of fun things. He's got a little bit of a crafty side so from his brothers he got everything he needed to make homemade soap. He's had lots of fun with that. The oddest gift he got, and he asked for it, is a pooper scooper. WIERD! but whatever! Anyway, we had a great time bowling with family and friends. Thanks to everyone who made Colts birthday fun! It's GREAT to be 8! Love you Bud!

They grow up too fast!!

WOW! Where did the last 6 years go??? My baby just turned 6! That just seems too crazy. He had a pretty darn good birthday. He's such a little cowboy that everything had to be western. Thanks to Aunt Trish we pulled off his idea for his birthday treats at school. He wanted cowboy boot rice crispie treats. I had no idea how I was gonna do that and had told him he might just have to settle for rice crispie bears or something. I called Trish to see what assortment of cookie cutters she had and about died when she said "well I have a cowboy boot, a cowboy hat, a steer head, a ...." NO WAY! How could I be so lucky? So with Tricias cookie cutters and her help, he got the treats he wanted for his class. Thanks Trish! That night we had everyone over for cake, ice cream and presents. All Briston wanted for his birthday was spurs and chaps so he made out pretty well. He got both, along with a few other things he totally loves. The little dirtbike was Davids idea. I wasn't loving the idea but we got it pretty cheap and when I saw the look on Bristons face and watched him ride it I kinda changed my mind. Happy Birthday Bud!
